Dan Alan Briggs

A celebration of life for Dan Alan Briggs 62, of Bandon will be held at a later date.

Dan was born Dec. 6, 1954 in Spokane, Wash., the son of William and Betty (Sines) Briggs. He died June 17, 2017 in Bandon.

He grew up in Spokane, Wash., St. Maries, Idaho and Port Orford with six siblings. Dan worked on a few commercial fishing boats while attending high school. He purchased his first car and bought an expensive stereo plus speakers that cost more than the car. He loved music. He became a loader operator once out of high school. He often exclaimed “It was like playing with big trucks.” He learned this trade from his beloved father whom he called “Dadio." Dan worked 40-plus years loading logs for Westbrook and Menasha. Dan loved giving gifts, so he always volunteered to play Santa in December. He was a big lad at heart and enjoyed the children as they unwrapped their presents. His love of home-cooked food and ice cream was shared with his family and pets. Dan became a caregiver for his beloved “Dadio” and Ma Harrington of Port Orford.

Dan is survived by a huge family; four sisters, three brothers, countless nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Chris aka “Fluffy”; his father and grandmother, Moreeta.

Cremation rites will be held at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory, Coos Bay under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel, 541-267-3131.
