Suzette Marie (Sampier) Palmer

Suzette “Suzie” Marie Sampier Palmer, age 65, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Lifecare Center in Coos Bay. Suzie was born on July 15, 1960 in Portland, Oregon to Henry and Kathryn Sampier.

Suzie moved to Ireland for a brief time with her mother and youngest sister in 1974, where she experienced the Irish culture and education of the 70’s. She later moved back to Portland where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1978. Suzie went on to attend Mount Hood Community College. She married Kurt Wiederhold in 1981 and gave birth to her only son, Sean, in 1983. Suzie was overjoyed when her granddaughter, Violet was born in 2018. Suzie worked as a Medical Claims Analyst for 36 years for Blue Cross / Blue Shield in Portland and later for Advanced Health in Coos Bay. Suzie spent most of her life living in the Portland and Coos Bay area, as well as a short time in Pasco, Washington.

Family was very important to Suzie; besides being a mother and grandmother, she was present for numerous milestones in her many nieces and nephews’ lives; she never missed a family gathering, always coming with arms ready to hug and a heart full of love. She had a great sense of humor, even up to her final weeks. Suzie loved the outdoors, especially the beach, which was her happy place, spending hours beachcombing.

Suzie is survived by her son, Sean; granddaughter, Violet; her siblings, Michael and wife Mary, Cindy and husband Al, Amy, John, Paula and husband Marstin; her aunt Patricia; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Suzie was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends whose lives Suzie touched are invited to attend a graveside service at Ocean View Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1525 Ocean Boulevard, on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. A celebration gathering will follow at 2620 N. 15th Street in Coos Bay.
