A memorial service to celebrate the life of Sandy C. Hoefer, 89, of North Bend, will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the North Bend First Presbyterian Church, 2238 Pony Creek Road, with Pastor Eric Lindsey officiating.
Sandra “Sandy” Corrine ( Rybin ) Hoefer was born on January 16, 1934 in Lead, South Dakota to Marshall Rybin and Susie ( Haxby ) Rybin. She passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023 in Springfield, Oregon under the care of ElderHealth and Living.
In 1944 Sandy and the family, along with her little sister, Marsha, moved to the coastal community of Empire, Oregon. Empire proved to be a place where many lifelong friendships were established and a favorite gathering over the years was the summertime Empire Reunion.
Sandra graduated from Empire Grade School in the 8th grade and then attended North Bend High School and graduated in 1952. Highlights of high school was she was Girl of the Year her senior year.
Sandra became a Christian at the Empire Baptist Church and her faith and compassion for others was her benchmark on how she lived her life, however not without her opinions.
Sandra lived an exciting life with many adventures as a woman for her generation. She worked in a logging camp in Coos County as a cook’s assistant, lived independently in Portland, Oregon working for a shipping company, attended college in Brownsville, Texas and Long Beach, California.
Sandra married Andrew G. Hoefer Jr. on March 21, 1964 at the North Bend Presbyterian Church, which is now Unity by the Bay.
Sandra worked for the city of North Bend at the North Bend Public Library as a Book Restoration Specialist. She had a love of books and knowledge and always had a title of a book to offer. There are many beloved books in our community that have been repaired and restored by her hands.
Sandra is survived by her children; Kristin Hoefer and husband Jardin Kazaar, and Erik Hoefer and his wife Janet; grandchildren, Caitlyn ( Arron ) Atkins and Shane Hoefer; sister, Marsha Burgey ( Dan ); nieces, Cyndee ( Roy ) Mason, Danette ( Jon ) Killinger, Beverly Hoagland and Elizabeth ( Paul ) Jorgenson; nephews, Lance Burgey, Barry ( Amy ) Burgey, Mark ( Lisa ) Hoefer and Brad ( Ann ) Hoefer.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Susie Rybin and her husband, Andy Hoefer Jr. on January 12, 2023.
