Robert "Bob" N. Stockman, 87, of North Bend, died Nov. 12, 2025, at Evergreen Court Independent Senior Living in North Bend. He was born Jan. 22, 1938, in Lafayette, Colorado.
A man of great faith and patriotism, Bob trained sentry dogs and was an air policeman with the United States Air Force. He served as a deacon and greeter at several Bay Area churches.
Bob married his "princess," Sharon, on June 15, 1957, in Bakersfield, California. They had two children, John Michael and Tammy Suzanne.
After graduating from Bakersfield High School and serving four years in the Air Force, Bob worked a variety of jobs in the San Joaquin Valley in California. He later moved his family to southern Oregon, where he pursued a degree in education at Southern Oregon University.
He worked 22 years in the Coos Bay School District, including Millicoma Junior High School and Marshfield High School. He taught science, career development, history, government and economics.
Six months after he retired, the school district called and asked him to return to teach because of his dedication to the students. He pondered the offer for several days and then declined.
Bob enjoyed reading, spending time with family and studying the presidents. He was a lifelong learner who shared his knowledge with others. "I don't need the internet because Bob is my walking encyclopedia," his wife, Sharon, often said.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; two children, John Michael Stockman, of Coos Bay; and Tammy Suzanne Malgesini (and husband, John), of Hermiston; brother, Billy Stockman, of North Bend; special friends Steve and Sherri Knowlton, of Coos Bay; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ellamae Stockman; and siblings, John, Pat and Marie.
No public services will be held. Arrangements are with Coos Bay Chapel. www.coosbayareafunerals.com.
