A memorial service for Richard "Dick" Lynn Boynton, 52, of Coos Bay was held July 18, 1987 at the First Presbyterian Church of Coos Bay with Rev. Carole McArthur officiating. Cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory, Coos Bay with a memorial at Sunset Memorial Park Rosewood Cremation Garden. Private scattering of ashes was held by the family near Shore Acres State Park.
Dick was born January 28, 1935 in Pendleton, OR the son of Vane Frank and Pauline Mildred (Hart) Boynton. His brothers, Donald and Michael followed. He died July 11, 1987 of complications of cancer.
Dick attended Willamette University and graduated from Oregon State University School of Pharmacy. He was the owner of Empire Rexall Drug in Coos Bay until his death.
Dick was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Coos Bay and active in local poetry writers groups publishing many works.
He married Jean Eileen Van Valkenburgh and they had three children, Jennifer, Lee and Tom later divorcing.
