A Celebration of Life will be held for Neville G. Cordell, 86, of Coos Bay, on Saturday, August 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 400 Highland Avenue in Coos Bay.
Neville was born on November 21, 1939 in Bina, India. At 8 years of age he immigrated with his family to Southampton, England. Deciding to pursue the priesthood he attended King’s College in London. He attended seminary through the World Council of Churches in San Anselmo, California. He then returned to London and was ordained an Anglican priest at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London in 1968. He worked in Harrow, London as a Vicar before returning to the United States to pursue his PhD in Psychology, settling in San Diego where he became a U.S. Citizen.
Moving to Oregon with his family, Neville worked for many years at Coos County Mental Health and the Belloni Boy’s Ranch as a therapist and counselor.
Neville enjoyed traveling and gardening but mostly he enjoyed singing and performing. He directed multiple musicals at Little Theatre On The Bay and the Sprague Theatre in Bandon. He was a beloved member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, serving as a lay minister, on the vestry and in the choir.
Neville was a kind and generous person whose positive view on life was an inspiration to many and he will be greatly missed.
Neville is survived by his son, David of Washington DC; and brother, Aubrey of Southampton, England.
Neville was preceded in death by his wife, Susan.
