Lola Mary (Ledbetter) Lathrom was born in a holler, just outside Compton Missouri, on May 23, 1932, to Charles William Ledbetter and Mary Almeda (Dorris) Ledbetter. She was delivered by her Grandpa Charles Buckner Ledbetter. She was the third of six children born. Charles, who passed as an infant, Melvin, Lola, Bess, Edna, and Sherman. All passed leaving her as the last sibling. She grew up on various farms in Missouri, until WW2, when her father got a job driving bus on the military base, at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. The family moved into military base housing which had wood floors, running water, and an indoor bathroom, for the first time in her life. After the war, the family moved to a farm 5 miles outside MountainGrove Missouri. Mom attended Mountain Grove High school, where she met and married Lee Roy Lathrom on May 13, 1950.
On August 25, 1950, in Grandpa Lathrom’s house in Raybern, Missouri, Jimmie Curtis was born. The family moved onto Lawerence, Kansas, as Lee got a job working in a powder, military grade munitions factory. He also worked on the Kansas Turnpike. He then started teaching at Desoto Kansas. On Oct 8, 1953, in Lawrence Kansas,Terry Lee was the first of Lola and Lee’s children to be born in a hospital. On Nov 18, 1955, in Lawrence Kansas, Michael Ray was born in the same hospital. In 1956 the family moved to Lamar Colorado, following a teaching job offer. On Sept 29, 1957, in Lamar Colorado, Debra Kay was born. In the summer of 1959, the family moved to North Bend Oregon, following a tip from a former teacher from Lamar, about teaching opportunities there. When they arrived, they stayed with the Admonson family, until they purchased their two-bedroom house on Johnson Street, August 5, 1959, using their homemade moving trailer they brought from Kansas as a down payment. On August 4, 1960, Raymond Douglas was born at the Keizer Hospital in North Bend.
In 1963, the carport was converted into a Master bedroom. An extension to the back of the house, for a dining room and bedroom, were also added. On September 16, 1963, Linda Sue was born at the Keizer Hospital in North Bend. While her kids were growing Lola was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and was involved with Home Extension, Brownies, Jobs Daughters and Boy Scouts. At the age of 47, Lola took a test at SWOCC for her GED, and passed, hoping to work at the bank. With the banks putting a freeze on hiring, Lola began her 13-yearcareer in the Hotel industry as Housekeeper, working her way up to Head Housekeeper. After her children were grown, Lola and Lee joined the White Shrine, then in 1990, Order of Eastern Star. In 1995-1996 Lee and Lola rose to Worthy Matron and Patron of OES. Repeating in 1988-1989.She served as Chapter secretary from 2002 to 2013. One of her Favorite charities was working the Shore Acres Christmas lights for over 20 years.
Lee and eldest son Jim passed away in 2011.Oldest Daughter Deb passed away in 2022.
On Jan 21, 2026, shortly after 3PM Mom passed away peacefully with family by her side.
She is survived by her children Terry, Mike, Raymond and Linda. Along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services were held at the North Bend Chapel and Ocean View Memory Gardens Cemetery on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
