Katie Louise Roderick Props

Katie Louise Props was born on July 6, 1973, in Coos Bay, Oregon, to William Roderick and Cathy Johanneson. She had two brothers, William Roderick, three years older, and Ean Petersdorf, three years younger. Katie attended school in Coos Bay and graduated from Marshfield High School. While growing up, she participated in 4H with dogs, and loved getting out to experience the adventure of the Bay Area. She married Randy D. Props on March 19, 2005 at the North Bend Community Center. They would have celebrated their 20th anniversary next spring. Katie and Randy both loved horses, and even owned their own horses for their entire marriage. Together, they shared lots of horseback riding and horse camping. They especially enjoyed going out to Horsfall and the North Spit to ride together. Katie loved fishing anywhere, but particularly in the ocean, which she and Randy did often. Salmon was a favorite catch for her, and she also enjoyed crabbing in the bay. Hunting was another of her joys in life; she liked skinning and butchering the animals they harvested. Often they would go practice shooting so she could shoot her double-action revolver, the “Pink Lady.” Katie and Randy liked to bowl and were part of the Reno and Timber Bowling Leagues for many years. She also loved karaoke and sang any chance she could. Some of her other joys in life included cooking, working in her yard, and especially spending time with her grandkids.She worked at Bay Area Hospital in the laundry department before becoming a phlebotomist. After that, she worked for 12 years as a flagger for Trees, Inc. and Wright Tree Service. Since June, she had been working as a sales associate at Ace Hardware Store. Katie passed away in her home in Coos Bay on October 31, 2024. She was 51 years old. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sam and Mable Roderick, and Bill and Marjorie Chard; her father, William Roderick; her stepfather-in-law, Mark Ricca; her father-in-law, Randy Props; and her grandson D.J. Dillon. She is survived by her husband Randy Props; a daughter, Kieren Lee of Mississippi; a son, Kody Menning of Coos Bay; a stepson, Jonathon Lemmon of Coos Bay; six grandchildren, Keondre Dillon, Dontre Dillon, and Katelynn Dillon, all of Mississippi; Mico Menning of Coos Bay; and Carol Ann Props-Lemmon and Eddie Props-Lemmon, both of Coos Bay. She is also survived by her mother, Cathy Johanneson of Coos Bay; her brothers, William Roderick of Coos Bay, and Ean Petersdorf of Portland; her mother-in law, Susan Ricca of Coos Bay; a stepmother-in law, Sharon Props of Riolinda, California, as well as several nephews and nieces, Nick Roderick of Roseburg, Nicole Roderick of Portland, Will Roderick of Coos Bay, Grace Roderick of Eugene, and Joe Tidzump, along with many cousins.
