Kathleen M. Dodds

A memorial service for Kathleen Marie Dodds, 72, of Coos Bay will be held at 11 am, Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Coos Bay Chapel, 685 Anderson Avenue in Coos Bay, with her two sons, Odysseus and Rollston Frangopoulos, officiating.

Kathleen was born July 18, 1948 in Laramie, Wyoming to Thomas Anthony and Rita Elizabeth (Campbell) Dodds.  She passed away May 14, 2021 in Coos Bay.

At the age of 14, Kathy moved from Laramie, Wyoming to Santa Clara, California in 1962.  After high school, she enrolled at the University of Santa Clara.  As a junior in college she studied “the history of the Renaissance” abroad in Florence, Italy.  While in Italy, Kathy met Constantinos Frangopoulos, fell in love and at the age of 21 got married in the summer of 1969. 

The couple moved to Santa Clara and at the age of 23, Kathleen gave birth to their first son, Odysseus, July 12 1971.  The family then moved to New York, where Kathy attended Fordham University, obtaining a Master’s degree in English. During that time, Kathy was a taxi cab driver in the city of New York. 

In 1975 the family moved again to Athens, Greece.  It was in Greece that she gave birth to their second son, Rollston Frangopoulos, December 4, 1978. 

Kathleen separated from her husband and alongside her two sons, moved back to the United States and settled back in Laramie, Wyoming.  In Wyoming, Kathy was a rancher and librarian and decided to go back to school at the University of Wyoming.  She later became a drug and alcohol counselor.  Kathy also had to face a battle with breast cancer. 

In 2007, she moved to Portland, Oregon and to Coos Bay in 2010. 

In her life, Kathy always fought for social justice and the preservation and protection of the earth.
