John Huffman Obituary

John Huffman Jr., aka “Jack”, 85, of Grants Pass, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 in North Bend, Oregon, following a short illness. John was born on March 9, 1938 in Vincennes, Indiana to John Huffman and Mary Elizabeth ( Arnold ) Huffman.

John graduated from Calumet High School in Gary, Indiana. He served in the National Guard. He attended Indiana State University, Porterville College in Porterville, California and graduated from Humboldt State in Arcata, California. He obtained his teaching credentials and taught primarily in Elementary Education for over 30 years. He retired from the Konocti Unified School District in Lake County, California in 1998.

John was married to Nancy Huffman for 30 years until her passing. They had two children, Jonathan Huffman of Nampa, Idaho, and Jennifer Huffman of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Jonathan and his wife Brittany have four children.

John was married to Darien Huffman for the last 26 years. He was stepfather to Faith Taylor of North Bend, Oregon.

After moving to Grants Pass in 2000, John became known as “The Mole Man” when he started his small business catching moles and gophers. He worked at that until 2023. He was also employed part-time at Safeway in Grants Pass until early this year. The Huffman’s moved to Coos Bay, Oregon early this year. John was a very happy and hard working individual. He enjoyed his family and his co-workers and the many customers of his mole-catching business. He will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his wife, Darien Huffman; son, Jonathan Huffman and his wife Brittany and their four children; daughter, Jennifer Huffman; stepdaughter, Faith Taylor; his four sisters; and many extended family members.
