A celebration of life for Johnnie "John" William Davis aka "Trouble", 87, of Coos Bay, will be held from 1:00pm - 5:00pm, Saturday, May 10 at the Buzz in the Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Avenue in North Bend.
John was born December 8, 1937 in Quitman, Arkansas, to Willie Minor and Myrtle May (Allen) Davis. He passed away April 21, 2025 in Coos Bay.
John came to Oregon when he was 17 to work in the woods and as a side job, he worked in cranberry bogs. He was also a proud member of the National Guard.
In 1957, John married Sandra Fellows and together they raised three children. Later in 1969, he married Harriet Betterton and also helped raise her four children.
He enjoyed bowling and spent time as president of the Coquille Valley Bowling Association. He was also involved with Camp Easter Seals Bowl-a-thon, the Special Olympics and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 27 years.
After 41 and a half years, John retired from Roseburg Forest Products. After retirement, he really enjoyed spending his time at Pony Village Mall, drinking coffee and visiting with friends at the "whopper" table. He also relished his time socializing at the Mill Casino.
John was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children, Karen Green, Edward Davis and Allen Davis; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Darlene Gardner and Catherine Arnold; several step-grandchildren; special friends that became family, Carroll Canfield and Judy Ashenfelter.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; his parents, Willie and Myrtle; sister, Marjane; niece, Martha; and two step-daughters, Barbara and Margaret.
Cremation rites have been held at Ocean View Memory Gardens and a memory plaque will be placed at Sunset Memorial Park, Coos Bay under the care of Coos Bay Chapel, 685 Anderson Ave., 541-267-3131. www.coosbayareafunerals.com
