Joe Louie Arellano, 85, of Coos Bay, passed away on August 9, 2024. Joe was born in Del Norte, Rio Grande, Colorado to Celso and Flora Gurule Arellano.
Joe and his first wife, Doris Rudd had two children together, Sandra and Byron.
Joe met his wife, Lucile Christensen, and his family grew with stepchildren, Randy, Maryjane, David, Susan and Kari. In 1970, Joe moved Lu and the kids from California to Oregon. Joe was a cutter and safety instructor for Weyerhaeuser until they closed down. Joe then went to work for Carson & Davis taking care of many of their stations.
Joe and Lu were avid bowlers at North Bend Lanes. They loved to travel, spend time and make memories with their kids, grandkids, great grandkids and family. Joe was known as “Papa Joe”. He looked forward to attending the Oregon Ducks football games with his grandson, West.
Joe loved to keep busy. He loved to work with his hands in woodworking, mechanics and many do-it-yourself projects. He taught some of us how to drive, tune up our cars, change the oil in our cars and many more everyday tasks.
