Jerry Lester Jenkins, 84, passed away April 6, 2026 in North Bend, Oregon.
Jerry was the middle child and only son, born to Charles and Abigail Jenkins, March 11, 1942. He and his 2 sisters were born and raised in Wadsworth, Ohio. In 1961, he graduated from Wadsworth High School.
He met his wife, Wanda, at church when he was 18 and she (Wanda) was 16. They were married 2 years later on August 3, 1963. They had 3 children.
In 1971, after visiting his younger sister in North Bend, Oregon, Jerry packed his car and drove back to North Bend, looking for a job. He was hired by Conrad Lumber Company and then sent for his family to join him. The family lived in Hauser until 1988 when they moved to Allegany where Jerry lived until his passing. Jerry continued to work for Conrad Lumber Company (also known as Lumbermans and ProBuild) until he retired in 2008. After retirement, he volunteered at Kingsview Christian School in his wife’s preschool classroom and was known and loved as Uncle Jerry by the students and parents.
Jerry loved the Lord, his family, friends and church. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, and go to the sand dunes and beach. In more recent months, he spent many hours watching old western movies and Gaither Homecoming videos.
Jerry is survived by his children: son, Darin Jenkins; daughter, Tanya Sigloh and her husband, David, and son, Joel Jenkins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Wanda; his parents; sisters, Sally and Barbara; and granddaughter, Emily.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 2nd at Bay Area Church of the Nazarene, 1850 Clark Street in North Bend.
Arrangements are under the care of Coos Bay Chapel, 541-267-3131. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.coosbayareafunerals.com
