Eugene Taylor Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Joseph Taylor died Monday, December 9, 2019 of Coos Bay, Oregon.  He was born to Cecil Wayne Taylor and Lottie Cleda Hilton on March 19, 1930 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. 

At 17 yrs., he enlisted into the Army and served in Korea with the 1st Calvary Division in the war.  During his time in the service, his surviving brother Carl Niles Nicholson of Whittier, CA was born.  Gene was married Dec. 22, 1970 in Fresno, CA to Betty Lou Hawley.  They were married for 47 years before her passing in 2018.  No children were born to this marriage although Betty was the great love of his life. 

Professionally, he was a master mechanic working for various petroleum companies in and around Fresno, CA, and moved to Coos Bay, OR after he retired.  He had one daughter born Pamela G. Taylor; from his second marriage to Elena (Jennie) Jean Thompson, they married Sept. 30, 1957 in Los Angeles, CA, and later divorced. 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and wife Betty Lou Hawley Taylor.

Many thanks to Gene & Betty’s caregiver Christy. She was wonderful through the years of her service with both of them. 

Interment of cremains with graveside services for Betty and Gene, with military honors for Gene, will be held later in 2020 at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, 529 E 2850 N, North Ogden, Utah 84414.
