Dick "Jim" Kelley II

A graveside service for Dick "Jim" Kelley II 57, of Reedsport, formerly of Coos Bay/North Bend who died April 27, 2021 in Reedsport will be held Friday, May 7, at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park, 63060 Millington Frontage Road in Coos Bay.

Dick "Jim" Kelley was born November 19, 1963 in North Bend, OR. He died April 27, 2021 at home in Reedsport. Jim grew up primarily in Coos County and attended Marshfield High School. As an adult Jim lived in OR, WA, & TX. He worked as a general laborer, tree planter, fought wildfires, worked in construction, but spent the longest stretch as the owner/operator of Royal Sales and Services, where he traveled the US working on cemetery/mortuary equipment and was known as the "Morgue Mechanic". 

Jim loved fishing, rock collecting, gold panning and in general loved the outdoors. He enjoyed traveling, yard sales and exploring new places. You could often find him building, repairing, or repurposing something as he was a "Jack of all trades" which earned him the nickname "Tinker". Jim was a talker. When you saw him coming you could always expect a story. He was a great storyteller and had a way of making his stories sound believable! Some of his stories had you scratching your head asking, "is that even possible?" 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Margaret Kelley, sisters Robin Lynn Kelley, Deborah Teodoro and Patricia Kelley, brothers Jeremy and Galen Kelley. He leaves a son Sam Kelley, granddaughters Eliza and Brooklyn Kelley, sisters Carletta Jackson, Annie Tomsik, Sally Patterson and Cindy Boucher, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
