No services are planned at this time for Delos Henry Boboa, 88, of Coos Bay. However, a memorial will be held for friends once the quarantine is over.
Delos, a resident of Ocean Ridge Assisted Living Residence in Coos Bay died peacefully at Bay Area Hospital Thursday, April 16 at 12:05 AM. Delos, better known as Bo, passed away after a short illness.
Bo was born in Genesee county Michigan, January 6, 1932. He grew up on a family farm, where they grew numerous crops, raised pigs, and had dairy cattle which sustained the family well during the great depression. His childhood was colorful and full of adventure having grown up on the Michigan peninsula.
At age 19, Bo moved to Montreal, Canada where he ran a private club. After Canada, Bo moved back to the Detroit area where he became a cook and security guard. After several years in Detroit he moved to Las Vegas Nevada where he became a blackjack dealer. Bo then moved on to Palm Springs, California. During his time in Palm Springs he had a successful catering and restaurant business. Bo catered to stars like Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra on a regular basis. Bo suffered a fall at his business in Palm Springs that required a long-term rehabilitation.
After his rehabilitation, Bo then moved north to Coos Bay, where he reinvented himself and became known within the community as a auto body and upholstery craftsman. Bo was a well known figure locally by all of the car dealerships because they knew if they gave him a job to do he would get it done right.
Bo is survived by many friends in the community with a legacy of caring and kindness.
Arrangements are under the care of Coos Bay Chapel, 541-267-3131. Friends and family are encouraged to sign the online guestbook.
