A graveside service for Shirley Jean Shipp, 89, of Coos Bay will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 9 at the Masonic Cemetery in Coquille, across from the high school, with pastor Bryan Johnston of the Church of Christ of North Bend, officiating.
Shirley was born August 17, 1929 in Gentry, Arkansas to Elwyn E. and Bessie G. Plew. She passed away July 21, 2019 in Coos Bay.
When Shirley was working at Busy Corner Café in Coquille as a dishwasher, she met the light of her life, Curtis Shipp. After a short courtship, they were married April 2, 1982. Their blended families became 9 and Shirley became a homemaker. Shirley loved to cook big meals, bake pies, cakes and cookies and host large family get-togethers. She also loved quilting and donating the quilts to A.B.A.T.E and Bykes for Tykes, and was a longtime volunteer at Bay Area Enterprise in Coos Bay.
Shirley is survived by her children; Cecil Wilson of Springfield, Carolyn Roby of Powers, Connie Turner of Coos Bay, Benny Armstrong of Williston, North Dakota, Doug Armstrong of Spokane, Wash; step-children, Helen Ryan of Richmond, Ind., Ron Shipp, Don Shipp, and Kathie McMillan, all of Coos Bay; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Everett Cecil Wilson, Cecil Benjamin Armstrong and Curtis Glen Shipp.
