Shirley Ottinger

A chapel funeral service for Shirley Ottinger, 88, of Coos Bay, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, at Coos Bay Chapel, 685 Anderson Ave. in Coos Bay. An interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 63060 Millington Frontage Road in Coos Bay.

Shirley was born March 27, 1929 in Sweeney, Texas, to Bryant and Marylan (Galyean) Richardson. She passed away Feb. 8, 2018 in Coos Bay.

Shirley was a very hard worker; working until she was 82. While she lived in San Diego, Calif., Shirley was a spot welder for solar aircrafts and a sail-maker. Eventually the heat drove her away from San Diego and led her to move to Coos Bay, where she worked as a lead shop steward at Hallmark fisheries.

She loved cooking, gardening and tending to her flowers. She was loved and will be dearly missed.

Shirley is survived by her children, Michael Edward Ottinger, Judy Ann and John Dzierzak, Carol Louise Ottinger, Daniel Phillip Ottinger, Steven Bentley Ottinger; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bettie Smith and Mickey Kelley; and brother, Tom Richardson.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bentley Ottinger.

No memorial contributions were requested, but flowers are greatly appreciated by the family and can be sent to Coos Bay Chapel.
