Shiela C. Boice

A memorial service for Shiela C. Boice, 73, of North Bend, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 7 at the Bay Area Bible Baptist Church, 14th & Oak, in North Bend, with pastor Matthew Gass, officiating. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.

Shiela was born at home, Oct. 12, 1944 in Tillamook to Chancy and Zora (Bettis) James. She passed away March 12, 2018 in Bandon, with complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

She attended schools in Tillamook and Reedsport and graduated high school at Tillamook (mama said “graduation before marriage”). Shiela married Dave Boice June 24, 1962 at Winema (Wi-Ne-Ma) Christian Church.

Shiela worked at St. Catherine’s for 10 years. Later her husband accepted Christ at an AMWAY function in 1981 and started attending Bay Area Baptist Church in 1982. Shiela accepted Christ at a young age at Winema Christian Church and was baptized in the lake Winema.

She worked with Dave on the church bus for 34 years. She also was the church secretary for a time and taught Sunday school for many years.

“I was married to the most wonderful and faithful wife for 55 years and 9 months and was so thankful for her love. She will be missed so very much, but she is with Jesus Christ now and I will join her when he takes me home, and we will be together forever” – David Boice.

Shiela is survived by her husband, David; four brothers, Dick, Jack, Russell and Steve; and sister, Ileen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chancy and Zora James; brothers, Sonny, Verlon and Frank; and sisters, Bettie, Arlene and Janie.
