At his request, no services will be held for Scott William Robinson, 71, a longtime resident and cabinet maker of Coos Bay. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.
Scott was born May 24, 1948 in San Rafael, Calif. to William and Ada (Halvorson) Robinson. He passed away suddenly at home September 16, 2019.
Scott spent his early years in the Nicasio Valley, Marin County, California.
He distinguished himself by being awarded International Cabinet maker of the year in 1970. From that point on, he became well known for his fine quality woodworking. Scott was the owner and operator of Scott Robinson Company and then Coos Quality Cabinets for almost 50 years.
Scott met his wife, Sharon “Sherrie” Robinson in late 1970 and they knew immediately that they were meant to spend their lives together. They were married in 1975. Together, they raised their son, Melvin William Robinson.
Scott was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to ride his motorcycles whenever he could and reading was an important part of his life. He loved learning.
Scott spent five years rebuilding a commercial salmon boat “The Petrel” from the keel up and turned it into an absolute work of art that has won many awards.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrie and her family; brother, Roger and wife, Judy; nephew, Matthew William Robinson; niece, Jennifer Harrington and husband, Conn; dear friend and adopted sister, Margaret “Maggie” Smith and family; dear friend, Bev Neuharth and family; as well as many friends, too numerous to mention (but you know who you are).
Scott was preceded in death by his son, Mel; parents, Bill and Ada; sister, Virginia “Ginger” Strelow and dear friends, John Bohman and Steve Helberg of Marin County and David Smith and Don Neuharth of Coos Bay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
Arrangements are under the care of Coos Bay Chapel, 541-267-3131. Friends and family are encouraged to sign the online guestbook at www.coosbayareafunerals.com
