At his request, no public services will be held for Robert W. Grant, 92, of North Bend. Private cremation rites will be held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.
Robert was born Feb. 1, 1925 in East Greenville, Pa. He was the son of the late Howard and Ida Grant and brother of the late Howie, Rich and Linny Grant. He passed away Dec. 24, 2017 in Coos Bay.
Robert attended Quakertown and Lansdale high schools in Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a crew chief from 1943 to 1945 in Iwo Jima and Guam. He was awarded two Bronze Stars. Robert returned to school to study forestry at Michigan State College, returning to the Air Force for two more years, then finished his schooling at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Robert and Alice (Palmer) Grant were married in Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1954. He enjoyed working as a Boy Scout executive, commercial photographer and volunteered as secretary-treasurer for 17 years for the Rotary Club of Pendleton. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Pendleton. He enjoyed his fellow workers and all the very special people he met along the way. He and Alice loved traveling, nature, history, exploring, camping, fishing, birding, Elderhostel adventures, Rainbow Bus Tours and their life and friends at Inland Point Estates.
Robert is survived by his wife, Alice M. Grant.
