Oris Wolff Obituary

Oris Henry Wolff, 89, of North Bend passed away early Monday morning.

Oris was born April 23, 1930 on the family farm near Central Point, Oregon, son of Frederick Wolff and Anna (Heckert) Wolff.

He, along with current brothers-in-law, Donald and Roland Johnson, graduated from the 8th grade at Willow Springs School in 1944, the last year school was held there. He was a graduate of Gold Hill High School in 1948, and on August 10, 1950, in Medford, he married Theola Johnson.

He worked for Fruit Growers Supply Company in Hilt, California until joining the California Oregon Power Company, which later merged with Pacific Power & Light. He retired from the company as Area Operator in March 1992 after 41 years of service, having held positions in several locations throughout the Southern Oregon/ Northern California area.

He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 with overseas duty in Japan and England. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol for 22 years and was a freelance flight instructor. He held several pilot ratings and enjoyed every aspect of flying. He was a member of South Coast Association of Recreational Flyers centered in North Bend and belonged to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Upon retirement in 1992, he and his wife moved to Myrtle Point, Oregon where he continued his interest in airplanes and working with his tools.  The couple have lived in North Bend since 2017.

Oris is survived by his wife of 68 years, Theola; son Frederick Wolff and wife Audrey of Pleasant View, UT and daughter Annette Wolff Shinkle and husband James of Columbia City, OR; grandsons Karl and Erik Wolff and Lucas and Austin Shinkle and great-granddaughter Addison Shinkle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Frederick, Robert and Donald, and sisters Anna VanDeWeghe and Edna Boardman.
