A memorial service for Marjorie Marie Chard, 90, of Coos Bay will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Coos Bay Chapel, 685 Anderson Avenue in Coos Bay.

Marge was born February 13, 1927 in Marshfield to Theodore Gent Rushing and Margaret Pearl (Clarke) Rushing.  She passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord Sept. 13, 2017 at her home in Coos Bay, surrounded by family.

Marge attended school in Marshfield and as a young woman worked at Boeing to support the war effort.

Marge met and married William “Bill” Chard July 2, 1945 in Coquille.  Together they had four children, 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  Marge dedicated her life to being a wife and mother, caring for her children and grandchildren, taking them to swim, dance and music lessons, as well as many different sports practices and games.

Marge was well traveled, living in Jordan with Bill for a year and visiting multiple countries in Asia and Europe.  One of the high-points of her life was going on a “Dancing With The Stars” cruise of the Caribbean with her three daughters in 2014.

Marge enjoyed family camping trips, community concerts and crab feeds with friends and family.

She is survived by sisters, Flo Dugan of Salem, Lois Jones of Calif.; sister-in-law, Beverly Rushing of Salem; daughters, Christine Sjogren and Alan of Green Acres, Carol Mork of Coquille, Cathy Johannesen and Donald of Coos Bay; daughter-in-law, Carol Chard of North Bend; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, William Chard Sr.; son, William Chard Jr.; brother, Robert Rushing; brother-in-law, Norm Dugan; son-in-law, Charles Mork; granddaughter, Sara Roderick, and great-great-grandson, Donyea Dillon Jr.

In lieu of flowers, Marge requested donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research.
