Lee Beebe Obituary

Lee L. "Bud" Beebe was born Dec. 26, 1927 in Bend to Elmer and Alice Beebe. He was the youngest of seven children. He passed away June 10, 2018 of natural causes at his home in Coos Bay at the age of 90.

Bud lived in Oregon all of his life, with most of it in Coos County. Bud grew up and attended school in Empire. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at 18. While in the Army he learned to fly. He obtained his pilot's license and soaring through the sky was one of his greatest joys.

He met and married Shirley Smith and together they had two daughters and one son who joined Bud's daughter from a previous marriage. Bud and Shirley raised their family in Fairview. Country living suited him as he liked the open spaces and outdoor activities. He refused to get too far from the ocean though. He spent as much time as possible fishing, crabbing and clamming. The ocean was his happy place.

Bud's love of driving led him to a career as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was the first person to drive a loaded mule train over the Allegany Road.

Bud was known for his quick wit and big heart. He was loved by many as he had a generous and kind spirit.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Beebe; daughters, Linda Peerson and Terry Ratliff; and one grandson, Duane Weddle.

He is survived by his sister, Nita Carlson; son, Chris Beebe; daughter, Vikki McLain and husband, Charles; special nephew, Stan DeLapp; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request a private burial will be held at Ocean View Cemetery.
