Joseph Noddin Obituary

An urnside committal with military honors for Joseph T. “Ted” Noddin, 91, of Coos Bay,will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, July 2 at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd in Portland.

Ted was born July 1, 1926 in San Jose, Calif., to Hector Donald and June Noddin. He passed away peacefully May 4, 2018 in Roseburg, after a long journey with heart failure.

Ted joined the United States Navy in 1943 and served honorably for 30 years. He was a veteran of three wars (World War 2, Korea and Vietnam). He was proud of his service to this great country. He kept abreast about naval affairs throughout his life.

He married his wife and best friend, Charlotte Irene (Curnes) Noddin Oct. 15, 1955. He was a devoted and committed husband for 63 years.

Ted loved the West Coast and with his wife, Charlotte, moved to Coos Bay, in 1989. He built his home and his shop there where he worked on antique tractors, was involved in lapidary and created jewelry for donating to the VA and community. He enjoyed traveling and visiting every state. He was on the Charleston Sanitation District Board for 26 years and was active with the community for all those years.

In addition to his wife, Charlotte, Ted is further survived by his son, John J. Noddin and wife, Nan of Lumberton, Texas; his daughter, Sandy Dow and husband, Raleigh of Sutherlin; his son, Michael Noddin and wife, Katie of Escondido, Calif.; as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Donations may be made in his memory to the National WWII Museum, 945 Magazine St., New Orleans, LA 70130.
