Janet Davison Manning
December 21, 1921 – April 20, 2018
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Janet Davison Manning, 96, of North Bend, will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 2:00 p.m. at the Hauser Community Church, 69411 Wildwood Drive, with pastor Bill Moldt presiding. A private interment (arranged by North Bay Chapel) was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Oakland, Oregon.
Janet was born on December 21, 1921 in Green Valley, near Oakland, Oregon to Charles Henry and Emma Laura ( Schelling ) Davison. After attending schools locally, Janet enrolled at Oregon State College where, in 1942, she married fellow student Clyde Edward Manning. When Clyde returned from WWII service as a Navy Seabee they settled in their hometown of Oakland. Janet was active in Bible study groups, served as a scout den mother and nurtured numerous young women through 4-H cooking and sewing classes. In retirement, Janet and Clyde worked for many years on short term missionary projects in Texas, Ireland, Italy and Brazil. Their last years were spent living on the Oregon Coast in Reedsport and Hauser.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emma Davison; her husband of 73 years, Clyde Manning and her brother, Donald “Don” McLean Davison.
Janet is survived by her son, C. E. ( Ed ) Manning Jr.; daughter, J. Joanne Hansen and her husband, Steve; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and her brother Don’s family.
