A private graveside service will be held for Dorothy “Dottie” Bernice Smith, 87, who passed away Aug. 1, 2017 in Coos Bay.

One of twelve children, Dorothy was born Jan. 15, 1930 in Maxwell, Neb. to William Kinnan and Estella (Hughbanks) Kinnan.  Her mother passed away when Dorothy was one year old, and she was adopted by Charley and Hazel Nichelson (her maternal aunt), and given the Nichelson family name.

She is survived by her three children from her marriage to Dale Stevens, Vonna Lockwood, Dennis Stevens and Lorri Williams; grandchildren, Tonya Cannedy, Taryn Lockwood Schultz, Randy Williams, Ryan Williams, Kyle Stevens and Chad Stevens; fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her eleven siblings; husband, Loal Smith; son-in-law, Eric Lockwood; great-granddaughter, Lexi; and companion, Clarence Jensen.
