Curtis J. Petersdorf, 91, of Gardiner, passed away Oct. 15, 2017.  He was born in Pine County, Minn., Sept. 6, 1926 to Herman and Adah Petersdorf.  As a young child, he grew up on a farm.  In 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country proudly until 1946.  He married Rose Wittner, Sept. 5, 1949 in Cass Lake, Minn.

In the mid 1950s, Curtis moved his family to Gardiner where he was employed at International Paper Co. until his retirement.  In his younger years, he was a member of the Gardiner Volunteer Fire Department.  He enjoyed building and was instrumental in the building of his son's and daughter's homes.  He enjoyed working on endless projects for children and neighbors.

Curtis was preceded in death by his son, Donald in 2002;wife of 61 years, Rose, who passed away in 2010; four brothers, Charley, Willie, Hershel and Ron; two sisters, Louise and Eunice.  He is survived by daughters, Judith Petersdorf and partner, Hank McChesney of Reedsport; Linda and David Brandon of Scottsburg; Deanna and Emery Morgan of Reedsport; sisters, Elmeda Newman of Cohasset, Minn., Carol and Walt Holm of Wis. and Faye Burud of Hamilton, Mont.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was known for his helping hand, generosity and will be missed by family and friends.  May he rest in peace.
