A memorial service for Curtis J. McKinney, 63, of North Bend will be held from 1pm-5pm, Saturday, June 10 at the Eagles Lodge, (upstairs - please use stairs or elevator), 568 S. 2nd Street in Coos Bay.

Curtis was born Oct. 24, 1953 in Coos Bay to Melvin James and Bobbie Sue (McCall) McKinney of Tenmile. He lost his battle with cancer May 1, 2017 in North Bend.

Curtis attended schools in Reedsport and graduated from Oakridge High School in 1972. His jobs included working at his father’s logging supply, logging and heavy equipment, ranch hand, cranberry grower and the last few years at Walmart in the automotive department. He was the big, friendly guy that made the keys.

Curtis’ interests included hunting, fishing, woodworking and motorcycles. He loved anything to do with trains, steam engines, vintage airplanes and of course, his cats.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa McKinney of North Bend; her children, Christopher Baldwin, his wife, Karen and her two children, Melissa Baldwin Buechler and her daughter, Evianna; brother, Dr. Tim McKinney and wife, Margery of Bedford, N.H., and their sons, Ryan and wife, Laura and children, Elizabeth and Max of Parkville, Mo., and Christopher of Seattle, Wash.; parents, Mel and Bobbie McKinney of Tenmile and many caring and supportive friends.

In lieu of flowers, Curtis suggested donations be sent to Kohls Kitty Kare of Coos Bay, 541-294-3876.
