Timothy Howard Fitzpatrick

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date for Timothy Howard Fitzpatrick, 68, of Coos Bay. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.

Tim was born Sept. 21, 1949, in Eugene to Victor and Helen (Widman) Fitzpatrick. He passed away Jan. 28, 2018 in Coos Bay.

Tim was a devoted son and brother. After his father passed away, he helped care for his mother up until her passing. In his earlier years, he loved the outdoors, camping and hunting whenever possible.

Tim was a United States Marine Corps Vietnam veteran. He was in Vietnam for 22 months, where he received a Purple Heart, those months came back to haunt him later in life, as he developed many agent orange-related medical issues. He also joined the United States Army after the Marines and spent three more years serving our country.

He was a good brother and always liked to have discussions with all his siblings. He kept up on current events from the news and also enjoyed mostly reading western or mystery novels, and loved going to the movies.

Tim was a quiet soul and warrior. He was kind and generous and would give the “shirt off his back” if he saw a person in need. He was a good man that did not step on anyone's toes and stood up for himself, if it was called for. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

The family would like to thank Tim's friend, Peggy, and later caregiver for always being there for him through all of his good and bad days. She was one piece of normality that he needed.

Tim leaves behind brother, Leonard "Fitz" and wife, Shawn Fitzpatrick; sisters, Marce Knight and spouse, Steve Sallee, Patty Flett and spouse, Tony Huennekens, Jeanne and husband, Bruce Train; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Fitzpatrick in 1984; and mother, Helen (Widman) Fitzpatrick in 2001.
