At her request, no public services will be held for Sharon Elaine Kolkhorst, 74, of Coos Bay. Cremation rites have been held at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory with inurnment at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum columbarium.

Sharon was born Oct. 20, 1942, in Portland the daughter of Don and Edith (Young) Sumpter. She died March 14, 2017, in Coos Bay.

She attended Portland Business College and retired from Mercer Island Washington School District as a business office manager. Sharon belonged to Southwestern Oregon Rose Society, the Coos Bay Elks Lodge No. 1160, was a member and board of directors of Friends of Shore Acres and manager and buyer for the Information and Gift Center at Shore Acres. She spent many years helping with taxes with AARP. Sharon was the force behind the Care Bear Snack Pack Program for ORCCA and the Coos Bay Elks Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, Lou Kolkhorst of Coos Bay; daughter, Josy Rush of Seattle, Wash.; stepdaughter,Kibbi; grandsons, Lorn and Logan; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary, Richard and Michael; and sister, Judy.
