Robert E. Johnson, 66, of Coos Bay, passed away Aug 2.  He was born in Myrtle Point where he grew up and graduated from Myrtle Point High school in 1969.  He then joined the U.S. Navy and retired from the Navy after many tours of duty.  Bob was a longtime member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, helping many less fortunate children. Bob loved cooking for family gatherings, always thinking of everyone else's needs before his own.  He loved deer hunting with his dad and brothers and loved camping, drag racing and star gazing.  He will be truly missed.  

He is survived by his brothers, Tom Johnson of Coquille, Jim Johnson of Waldport, John Johnson and wife, Shari of Myrtle Point; sister, Kathy Johnson of Coos Bay; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl and Donna Johnson.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
