Robert “Bob” Paul Bower

January 26, 1947 – November 28, 2017

A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be held for Robert “Bob” P. Bower, 70, of North Bend, on Saturday, December 16th at 1:00 p.m. at Empire Hall, Lakeview Rooms E, F, and G, on the SWOCC campus, 1988 Newmark Avenue in Coos Bay. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.

Bob was born on January 26, 1947 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Joseph Bower and Dorothy ( Saar ) Bower. He passed away peacefully at his home in North Bend, with family at his side, on November 28, 2017, following a courageous battle with renal cancer.

Bob earned a Masters of Arts degree in Literature and taught at Southwestern Oregon Community College ( SWOCC ) from 1971 until the mid 1990’s when he became Associate Dean of Transfer Credit. His true professional love was teaching. He was involved in the ACLU and OPB. He enjoyed playing cards, water exercise, geneology and getting together with friends. He married Cynthia Solomon on June 12, 1991.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cynthia Solomon of North Bend; son, Jared Bower Solomon of North Bend; daughter, Nora Bower of Vancouver, WA; brother, James Bower Sr, and his wife Cindy Mengle of Trout Run, PA; brother, Richard Bower and his wife Charmain Bower of Kingston, PA; sister, Joan Kennedy of Montoursville, PA; brother, Joseph Bower Jr and his wife Judy Bower of Pottsville, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph William Bower Sr. and Dorothy Bower Strouse; and son, Adam Bower.
