A celebration of life will be held at a later date for Peggy Lynn Stanger, 63, of North Bend. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.

Peggy was born October 22, 1954 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Ingrid and Elmer Compton. She passed away peacefully December 25, 2017 in Coos Bay.
 

Peggy came from a large family of 12 children; she was number ten, and the youngest daughter. She grew up in Brainerd and made many lifelong friends throughout her life. She later moved to Oregon to be near siblings that had already moved from Minnesota to Oregon. It is at this time she met the love of her life, Steven Stanger and husband of almost 39 years, also coincidentally from Minnesota.

Together, Peggy and Steven built a lifetime together of love and beautiful memories. They had three children; daughter, Casey; son, Michael and daughter, Melinda. Her family was her most valuable possession; this was extended to many nieces, nephews, siblings and in laws.

Peggy’s laughter, her smile, and her love lit the room at every family gathering and celebration. She had many jobs since youth; she was a baker for many years at the Pancake Mill. However, her favorite and most treasured job was being "Bus driver Peggy" at South Coast Head Start. She had many children throughout the years still call her by that name, even after they grew into adults.

She is survived by her husband, Steven Stanger; daughter, Casey Gutierrez Camacho and husband Fernando, of Coos Bay; son, Michael Stanger, and fiancée Linda, of Coos Bay; daughter, Melinda Vanderford and husband Ryan, of Corvallis; grandchildren, Steven, Clayton, Jacob, Kirstie, Olivia, Rosa, Ria, and Camila; great grandchildren, Kaylee and Estella. She was the center of our lives and will always be a part of us all forever.
