Marcia Annette Rapp Mann, born Jan. 24, 1945, passed away peacefully at home, enjoying her beautiful view of Coos Bay, surrounded by family, friends, and her faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Dalbec and family of Marlborough, Mass.; her son, Todd Brown and family of Manalapan, N.J.; and her sister, Linda Rapp.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Wayne and Doris Rapp of Sacramento, Calif.

Born and raised in Sacramento, Marcia attended the Sacramento schools, but her love for Oregon brought her to attend the University of Oregon. After receiving her teaching credentials at Sacramento State University, she was employed by the Sacramento City Unified School District for more than 25 years. Marcia was very active in the Sacramento and North Bend/Coos Bay communities, and was a proud member of the Soroptimists and PEO. She volunteered at the Pacific Cove Humane Society and was a faithful parishioner of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in North Bend.

Marcia’s interests among many were her love for people and animals, decorating, reading, and a great appreciation for life. She especially loved watching her children grow as they played sports and started their families. The most important lesson she learned in this life was that laughter is the best medicine.

Marcia’s memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, with a light reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pacific Cove Humane Society and/or the Friends of Coos County Animal Shelter.

When you called her phone, you would hear her say, “It’s a beautiful day on the Southern Oregon Coast, wish you were here!” We wish you were too – you will be missed by many!
