A private family graveside service was held for Louene Hawkins, 85, of Coos Bay, at Ocean View Memory Gardens Cemetery in Coos Bay. The family plans to have a celebration of life at a later date.

Louene was born June 13, 1931, in Gravelly, Ark., to Arvil and Pearl Lackey.

Louene went to Fourche Valley High School in Briggsville, Ark., where she met Billy Hawkins. They were married March 19, 1949, at Bluffton, Ark. She was devoted to her four children and helped raise multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. "Lou" was known for her delicious southern cooking, home canning, pie baking and her incredibly beautiful flower gardens. She loved music, dancing and trips to Reno.

Louene is survived by her children, Marian and Frank Widdifield, Jeannie Mallgren, and Craig and Tami Hawkins; grandchildren, Brandi Philley, Misty Hudson, Christine and Franklin Widdifield; and great-grandchildren, Makayla, Trystin, Angeliah and MacKenzie.
