Lou Ann Rode Obituary

A mass of Christian burial for Lou Ann Rode, 83, of Coos Bay, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 3 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 357 S. 6th St. in Coos Bay, with Father Henry Rufo, officiating. Private interment will be held at Myrtle Crest Memorial Gardens in Coquille.

Lou Ann was born Jan. 7, 1935 in rural Red Lake Falls, Minn., to Lawrence and Noella (Lasha) Audette. She passed away March 26, 2018 in Coos Bay.

Lou Ann attended local schools in Red Lake Falls, Minn., and graduated from Mount Saint Benedict Academy in Crookston, Minn. She married Arnold “Duane” Hill in 1955.

In 1959, she moved to Coos Bay, where she later married Alvin “John” Rode. She worked in sales at stations KWRO and KBBR. Lou Ann was very active for many years in 4-H and the Coos County fair. She also volunteered at the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and Coos Bay Senior Center. Lou Ann moved to Bayside Terrace in 2009, where she resided until her death. She was a voracious reader, loved to travel and fish, and enjoyed visits from family and friends.

Lou Ann is survived by her children, Kathy Jacobson and Norm Lydy, and Jeff and Gidgette Hill; grandchildren, Andrea Knutson, Scott Jacobson, Jamie Hill, Nathan Hill, Austin Hill, and Meghan Hill; great-grandchildren, Grace Knutson, Clay Jacobson, Payton Jacobson, Jaymen Hill, Nathan Hill and Brent Hill; and sisters, Judy Morrison, Terry Weiss, and Mary Jo Audette.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brother, LeRoy; and sister, Laurie.
