Lawrence Edward Johnson, 98, died May 24th, 2017 with his family by his side in Coos Bay.

Lawrence and his wife Ruth moved out West from Minnesota in 1952 and quickly became true Oregonians…raising their family and grandkids with a love for the outdoors.   Lawrence was an active and well-known resident in Eastside…working at Eastside Elementary as the custodian for 22 years.  He was a volunteer fireman, member of the Elks and always willing to help his community.

Lawrence will be remembered and respected for his easy-going personality and smile.  He enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing and spending quality time with his kids and grandkids.  Lawrence taught us to work hard, respect others and love our country.

Lawrence is survived by his sons Larry and Leroy Johnson; sister Lucille; seven grandkids; 11 great grandkids and four great-great grandkids.
