Judy Marie Wright

April 28, 1938 – March 10, 2017

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Judy Marie (Mason) Wright, 78, of North Bend, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the North Bend Chapel, 2014 McPherson Ave., with pastor Don Berney, of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, presiding. A gathering to share more memories and stories of Judy will follow at Dave’s Pizza, 740 Koosbay Blvd., in Coos Bay. Private graveside services were held at Sunset Heights Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Tillamook.

Judy was born April 28, 1938, in Malta, Mont., to Loyd Mason and Ethel (Clouse) Mason. She left us on Friday, March 10, 2017, after a courageous battle with a long illness. She fought so hard to stay with her loved ones who truly adored her, but in the end, she left us with the utmost poise and dignity. We are comforted that she is no longer in pain and that she is reunited with her beloved sweet daughter, Tammy, handsome great-grandson, Hunter, and her precious Mom and Dad.

Judy lived in Malta until about 1942 when her dad’s Army National Guard unit was sent to Fort Lewis, Was., where he joined the U.S. Army and was shipped overseas. While her dad was gone, Judy and her mom moved to Beaver, Ore., to be closer to the family. Judy attended Beaver Grade School and Nestucca Union High School in Cloverdale. She had remained in close contact with many of her childhood friends to this day.

Judy had two beautiful daughters, Tina and Tammy, with her first husband. They often relocated around the Northwest for his job, especially in Idaho and Oregon, but finally settled in North Bend, Ore. After her divorce she met her husband of 53 years, William J. Wright, and they welcomed their gorgeous daughter, Teresa.

One of Judy’s passions was cooking, and boy could she cook! She always made sure she had everybody’s favorites from homemade rolls, beef noodles, and even her delicious cream puffs. She always said with a grin, when sharing a recipe, that it was exactly as she made it. Somehow it always tasted different….we think it was her love for cooking that made it so. Her passion for cooking was to become the luck of hundreds of children at North Bay Elementary School in Hauser, where she was head cook for more than 20 years.

Judy was talented in so many ways, painting, crafts, and sewing. This last Christmas she impressed her great grandkids by cutting out paper dolls in one long line. They thought that she was so clever. One of her favorite things to do was play games including Yahtzee, Rummy and 31. She rarely lost and if she did, you better be prepared to play some more, because she was set to finish as a winner! The one thing she enjoyed more than playing games was spending time with her family. She never missed a chance to call you or travel for a family event. She had a way of making you feel special and loved at all times. She was an outstanding listener and a resource of wisdom. She combined her two favorite activities by playing games on her Ipad against friends and family. She also used her Ipad to stay connected to her friends and family via Facebook. Judy was so very loved by all that knew her and she returned the love equally as fierce. She will be thought about daily with loving memories.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Bill Wright; daughter, Tina Smith and her husband, Gary of King City; daughter, Teresa Pratt and her husband, Bruce, of Vacaville, Calif.; granddaughters, Jonlyn Irving and her husband, Patrick of Newberg, Angie Rice and her husband, Jeff of Newberg and Amber Pratt of San Diego, Calif.; great-granddaughters and grandsons, Breelyn, Ashlyn, Khloe, Zach, Max, and Pierson, all of Newberg; sister, Julie Cabal and Ed Oram of Tillamook; sister, Susie Bentley and her husband, Roger of Beaver; and nieces and nephews, Robbie, Roy, Jayme, Aneka, Tyler and Austin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Portland, Ore.

Arrangements are under the care of North Bend Chapel, 541-756-0440.

Friends and family are encouraged to sign the online guestbook at www.coosbayareafunerals.com and www.theworldlink.com.
