Frank H. Amatisto

December 28, 1936 – December 17, 2017

A funeral mass will be held for Frank Henry Amatisto, 80, of North Bend, on Thursday, December 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2250 16th Street in North Bend, with Father Henry Rufo presiding. A recitation of the Rosary will precede the mass at 10:30 a.m. A reception will take place in the Parish Hall immediately following the funeral mass. A graveside committal will follow at Ocean View Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1525 Ocean Boulevard in Coos Bay. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27th from 11-7 pm at the North Bend Chapel, 2014 McPherson Avenue.

Frank was born on December 28, 1936 in Lowell, Massachusetts to Enrico Amatisto and Marianna ( Milinazzo ) Amatisto. He passed away on December 17, 2017 in Modesto, California with his family at his side.

Frank graduated from Downey High School in Downey, California, class of 1954. He married Mary Strada on June 2, 1956. In 1963 they moved to North Bend. Frank was self employed and owned North Bend Towing for 31 years. In 2004 his daughter, Tina Amatisto and son-in-law, Imran Ali took over the family business.

Frank was a longtime member of the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1160 and was past Oregon President from 1993-1994. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club, North Bend Booster and Senior Center. He helped in getting the Bingo started at the North Bend Senior Center. He served 2 terms as a city councilman in North Bend. He was a longtime member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus ( 4th Degree ). Frank loved to do the spaghetti feeds at the Junior High School and cook pizza. Frank and his wife Mary also loved to house foreign exchange students as well. He loved to play cards with his family, especially Pinochle, and he loved his politics.

Frank is survived by his children; son, Frank Amatisto Jr. and his wife Melody Moon-Amatisto of Vancouver, WA; daughter, Linda Jordan and grandson Mason Jordan of Turlock, CA; daughter, Tina Amatisto and son-in-law, Imran Ali and grandchildren Isabella Amatisto-Ali and Imran Amatisto-Ali, all of North Bend; son, Gino Amatisto of Eugene; Also, foreign exchange student Roberto Ruscello and family of Turin, Italy.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Enrico and Marianna Amatisto; his four siblings; and his wife Mary Amatisto in 2011.
