Florence Prosa

April 10, 1919 – June 10, 2017

Former Bay Area resident, Florence Prosa, 98 years, passed away June 10 and was buried June 15 at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park.

Florence was born April 10, 1919, the daughter of Fred (Cecil) Hazeltine and Elsie-Nystrom-Hazeltine.

She married Bernard Lyle Prosa March 27, 1937 in Hibbing, Minnesota. Moving to the west coast, settling in the North Bend area, they raised their 3 daughters and a son, spending 63 ½ wonderful years together.

Florence worked for the Twin City Laundry nearly 20 years, enjoying it very much. After retiring, she enjoyed more time at her church, fishing, camping, and bowling. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend and will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; daughters, Shirlie Hicks of Cottage Grove, and Arlene Sylvester of New Hampshire.

Florence spent 10 years living with her daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie Prosa-Quillin and William Quillin of Portland, Oregon.

As health needs changed, she moved to Cornell Estates of Hillsboro, still near her daughter, for the last 7 years, enjoying socializing, bingo and jigsaw puzzles.

Florence was celebrated by the Royal Rosarians of Portland when she was voted by her friends and peers, Senior Rose Festival Princess and Senior Rose Festival Queen 2011, for Cornell Estates.

She is survived by her brother, Charles (Mary) Hodge of Hibbing, Minnesota, a son of North Bend; her daughter, Bobbie (Bill) Quillin; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Written in loving memory by your daughter, it has been an honor! “So long for now, Mom."
