Dorene R. Hess, 88, passed away peacefully in Coos Bay, Nov. 23, 2017.  She was born March 21, 1929 to Frank and Dora Moore in Portland.  She spent a great deal of her youth traveling from city to city as her father, Frank, was a mechanic and traveled to wherever the work took him.  Dorene went to high school and graduated from Bandon High school.  She worked for the Western World in Bandon.  She met her husband, Jay and they were married July 10, 1949.  They were married for 66 years before his passing in 2015.

Dorene was a homemaker whose great loves were fishing and painting.  In the mid 60’s, she and Jay purchased the cranberry bogs in Bandon and retired as growers in 1979.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay L. Hess in 2015.  She is survived by her sons, Stuart L. Hess and wife, Luanne of Culver, Ore,, Jeffrey J. Hess and wife, Glenna of North Bend; daughter, Lindsay L. Barlow and husband, Patrick of Vancouver, Wash. as well as nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at the IOOF cemetery on Hwy 42 in Bandon.
