At his request, no public services will be held for Donald Max Whisman, 73, of Coos Bay. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.

Don was born Jan. 31, 1944 in Alva, Okla., to Leo Whisman and Ada Mae Rawson. He passed away July 9, 2017 in Coos Bay.

Don was in the Army National Guard as a young man from the state of Oklahoma. As an adult, he worked for a family owned cattle ranch in both Oklahoma and Kansas.

He had many friends who enjoyed his stories. He will be missed by family and friends.

Don is survived by his son, Michael Whisman of Milwaukie, Ore.; and brother, Richard Whisman of Oregon City.
