Charles "Charlie" James Jr.

August 26, 1943 ~ October 18, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Charles “Charlie” P. James Jr., 74, of Myrtle Point.  Per his wishes, private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.  An inurnment will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park in Coos Bay, where Charles will be laid to rest near his parents.

Charles “Charlie” James Jr. was born Aug. 26, 1943 in Welch, Ok. to Beulah and Charles "Pres" James.  He went home to His heavenly Father Oct. 18, 2017, after he lost his fight with metastatic cancer and passed away peacefully in Coquille.

Charlie moved with his family to Coos Bay in 1951 where he spent his childhood and graduated from Marshfield High School.  He met and married Evangeline Gaines and had three children, they later divorced.  Charlie studied engineering at Oregon State University and made his home in Salem, where he worked as a Civil Engineer for the Oregon Department of Transportation and later retired.

He was a talented musician and played frequently at his church and for friends and family.  As a master gardener, he spent his retirement planting fruit trees on his property in Myrtle Point where he was his happiest.  He was well loved by friends and his family, and will be greatly missed.

Charlie is survived by his sons, Christopher James and wife, Sandi, Robert James and wife, Serrae; daughter, Aliza Bach (James) and husband, Terry; sisters, Betty Fredrickson (James) and husband, John, Dixie Wright (James) and husband, Jake, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He will be greatly missed by his seven grandchildren, Cameron, Cailin, Cohan, Logan, Ian, Aaron, and Lauren and his beloved pup, Chloe.
