A graveside service for Carl Andrew Alfred Ross, 90, of North Bend,will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 12 at Ocean View Memory Gardens,1525 Ocean Boulevard in Coos Bay, with pastor Jon Strasman of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, officiating.  A celebration of life will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 at Sunset Bay Park Gazebo, located at the south end of the park.  

Carl was born April 26, 1927 on his family homestead in North Bend to Ally Johanna Fredrickson and Carl Emil Ross.  He passed away Oct. 2, 2017 at his residence in North Bend.  Carl was raised as a dairy farmer and logger and was driving the tractors by the age of 4.  He attended Sunny Hill School, where he was known mostly as “Sonny”.  He drove bus for Lakeside and Hauser routes during his high school years. 

Carl met his wife, Philis Jones in 1950.  Together they built their home before their marriage in 1951, the same home where they raised their three children.  After retiring from logging, Carl went on to raise beef cattle and farm trees on his own land.  His homestead was named a century farm in 1989.

Carl is survived by his son, Daniel Ross and daughter, Carlee Ross, both, of North Bend.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Philis and daughter, Marilee Kahler.
